More than positive results for the 5th CMP Venice Night Trail and 2500 runners are already registered for 2022!
cs
Venice, August 30, 2021 - The fifth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, which took place in Venice last Saturday evening, is ended. Also this year, the organizers have managed to give life to a very successful edition, which marks the relaunch of mass running in Italy and marks the restart, in effect, of the Venicemarathon events, which began at the end of June with the Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon and which will culminate with the 35th Venicemarathon scheduled for Sunday, October 24.

The balance of this fifth edition is therefore more than positive. Despite the still uncertain summer period, it was not easy to reach the sold out of the 3000 bibs available (of which 1,700 were the new members and 1,300 those in 2020 who chose to postpone to this year), as it was rather unpredictable the participation of foreign athletes. Instead, the magic of this nocturnal city trail has aroused great enthusiasm and a great desire to run among runners, who did not miss the opportunity to run at night in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A concept reaffirmed also by the winners Nicolò Petrin and Sharon Giammetta, very fond of this event because of its typicality.

The comments of thanks and congratulations from the participants in the hours following the race were a lot. The new logistics in the maritime area of the Port of Venice and above all the convenience of parking a few meters from the start and finish line was greatly appreciated: a very rare situation in major sporting events.

Many runners also appreciated the great work of the many volunteers located along the race track between streets, steps, tight curves and bridges and in the pre and post race services. In fact, there were 200 employees on the course and 100 volunteers who delivered bibs, refreshments and race packages quickly and efficiently, without creating traffic jams and long waits, supported by men and vehicles from the Civil Protection of Venice and the Local Police.

The medical health service of the Croce Verde was also impressive, fielding 30 people between medical and paramedical personnel, 2 ambulances and 2 hydro ambulances and set up a first aid point in the finish area. In addition, 12 people from the BLS team were competing, including doctors, nurses and rescuers with a Basic Life Support certificate.

The Venice Running Village then, set up in the large area of Cruise Terminal 123, occupied a total space of 10,000 square meters, where 5,000 technical CMP t-shirts were distributed, much appreciated by runners both for the very high quality garment and for the graphics, 10,000 liters of San Benedetto water, 4,000 Pro Action energy bars, 4,000 Bavaria beers, 3,000 Alì branded bags, 5,000 Grandi Molini Italiani flatbreads, 10,000 Palmisano biscuits. All materials were single-dose and packaged, in full compliance with anti-Covid regulations.

These and many other success factors give new impetus to the organizers, who can look to the future with optimism, also considering the fact that by 2022 there are already 2500 subscribers to the 6th CMP Venice Night Trail. The great potential of this event is known and Venicemarathon is already working to study the most suitable formula to further grow the race and satisfy all the registration requests that will arrive in the future. However, the event will be held again at the beginning of April and the organization is agreeing on the date with the municipal administration, which could be April 2 or 9.

Finally, from today until Sunday, you will be able to participate in a video contest, posting your own video of the competition or of the moments before and after the competition on your Instagram profile, tagging the official page @venicenighttrail in the video. The video that will receive the most likes, will win a CMP kit, the registration to the CMP Venice Night Trail 2022 and will be included in the official video of the event!

The event was organized by Venicemarathon with the fundamental support of the Municipal Administration of Venice and the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and by Venezia Terminal Passeggeri.

The event was supported by: CMP, Pro Action, San Benedetto, Alì Supermercati, Bavaria, Dolci Palmisano, Grandi Molini Italiani, Radio Deejay and Fairbnb.coop.

Great success last night in Venice for the 5th CMP Venice Night Trail

Image
The Venetian athlete of the Tornado team and the thirty color bearer of Atletica Biotekna Marcon repeat the success of 2019, winning the fifth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail which took place last night in Venice.
Great participation and warmth of the public along the spectacular route in the heart of Venice.

Venice, 29 August 2021 - Nicolò Petrin and Sharon Giammetta continue the tradition, also affixing their signature to the 5th edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, which took place last night in Venice.

The arrival of the men's race was the scene of a beautiful gesture of fair play, with Daniel Borgesa letting his teammate Nicolò Petrin cross the finish line first.

A noble gesture, which is repeated for the third consecutive year at the CMP Venice Night Trail, demonstrating that those who practice trail running interpret this type of races with a great spirit of solidarity and friendship. 58'54 "is the time it took both athletes to complete the 16 kilometers and 50 bridges. After about thirty seconds came Samuele Pognat Gros, athlete of Athletics Giò 22 Riviera.

In the women's field, the thirty architecture student Sharon Giammetta was reconfirmed with a clear victory. Trained by former Italian marathoner Giovanna Volpato, Giammetta is fond of this event, which represents a sort of springboard for her. In fact, her first participation dates back to 2017, when she took part in the non-competitive event together with some friends; in 2018 she began to assert herself on the scene by surprisingly crossing the finish line in second place and her consecration came in 2019 with the victory, then repeated also last night with a time of 1h04'40 ". Giammetta is also the reigning regional champion of 1500 and 5000 meters on the track. Behind her, with a gap of over six minutes, came Vania Rizzà in 1h11'17 and third Alice Casali in 1h12'59 ".

A competition script that then repeats itself, this time however with a different starting and finishing frame, welcomed this year in the large and convenient Maritime area of the Port of Venice. Cruise Terminal 123 has proven to be the right place to host events such as the CMP Venice Night Trail which this year, due to the quota for anti-Covid regulations, had to be limited to 3000 subscribers, but which in the future will allow organizers finally to be able to respond to the great demand for participation.

The evening, cooled by gusts of wind from the Alps, was however warmed by the warmth and enthusiasm of the many runners. The magic of the race lit up on the notes of Mameli's hymn, when the athletes fired their headlamps, and like so many fireflies they formed a very long luminous snake, which then entered the darkness of Venice, illuminating calli and campielli and livening up the most evocative areas of the city, with passages on the Calatrava bridge, in Piazza San Marco, on the Accademia bridge and at the Basilica della Salute.

The event was organized by Venicemarathon with the fundamental support of the Municipal Administration of Venice and the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and by Venezia Terminal Passeggeri.

Supported the event: CMP, Pro Action, San Benedetto, Alì Supermercati, Bavaria, Dolci Palmisano, Grandi Molini Italiani, Radio Deejay and Fairbnb.coop.

Bibs sold out for the 5th CMP Venice Night Trail scheduled in Venice tomorrow evening!
cs
The night city trail organized by Venicemarathon and scheduled for tomorrow evening in Venice starting at 9pm has sold out of the 3000 available seats.
Great representation of foreigners, with runners from 32 countries. Between calli and campielli the challenge will light up between the 2019 winner Nicolò Petrin and Giovanni Iommi, protagonist of the first two editions. In the women's field, look for the bis Sharon Giammetta.

Tomorrow evening, three thousand moving lights will illuminate the Venetian night on the occasion of the fifth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail which, after last year's stop due to the pandemic, starts again with new momentum, changing the departure and arrival location and the pre and after the race, this year guests of the Port of Venice.

The event, as always, will start at 9 pm and will enter the heart of the city, along a 16 kilometer route and crossing about fifty bridges. After departure from Cruise Terminal 123, the route will wind along the port area to then enter Piazzale Roma through the characteristic iron bridge located under the People Mover. From here the route will continue towards the first passage on the Grand Canal through the Calatrava bridge and will enter the most characteristic areas of the Cannaregio and Castello districts, going as far as the Giardini della Biennale, and then go up Riva Sette Martiri and Riva degli Schiavoni up to Piazza San Marco. The race will continue towards the La Fenice Theater and then cross the Grand Canal again via the Accademia Bridge and enter the Dorsoduro district. From here the athletes will continue to Punta della Dogana, then take the Fondamenta delle Zattere up to San Basilio, skirting the Giudecca Canal and, finally, return to the port area to take the final straight where the finish line on the side is located. of Terminal 123.

The competition will be organized in total safety, in full compliance with the provisions in force and following the protocols issued by the Italian Athletics Federation. All pre and post-race services will be set up in large open spaces, but athletes will still have to respect interpersonal distancing and wear a mask in crowded situations such as the start. They will be able to lower it only after 500 meters from the start, and then put it back on immediately after the finish line. The start will be divided into grids of up to 500 participants interspersed with sufficient time for the starters to flow out before the start of the next grid. Finally, as always, the athletes will have to equip themselves with headlamps.

Despite the still uncertain and difficult period, the response from the runners was excellent and, once again, they demonstrated the high satisfaction of the event. Registrations sold out due to the achievement of the 3,000 seats available, but the even more comforting news is the participation of athletes from all over Italy, and a large number of foreign athletes from well over 30 foreign countries. This shows that the event will be an excellent driver for the relaunch of tourism.

The nerve center of the event, as mentioned, will be the Port of Venice and, more precisely, the "Testata Marmi" area and the Cruise Terminal 123; an area to which athletes will be able to access directly by car, given the numerous parking spaces present, thus avoiding the use of means of transport.

This new logistic solution was very much appreciated by runners, and a further incentive to register. This is the case of Giovanni Iommi, the winner of the first two editions and Sharon Giammetta, the winner of the 2019 edition. "Initially I had decided to postpone the registration made in 2020 to next year, precisely due to fears related to logistics and the use of means of transport - says Iommi, the 48-year-old from Sacile - but when I learned of the move to the Port I did not hesitate to restore the registration and make it valid for this year. I ran all the editions of this wonderful city trail, because I love running in Venice and doing it at night is always a very strong emotion ". Sharon Giammetta had also initially postponed enrollment to 2022 and then, in mid-August, she decided to confirm her participation this year.

In addition to Iommi, Nicolò Petrin, the winner of the last edition, the one that took place in 2019, will also be at the start. road, could not miss the appointment at home: “This is my fourth consecutive participation. Unfortunately, I haven't done many races yet this year, and I hope my competitive season will restart from here. Obviously, on Saturday evening the goal will be to put my signature on this edition as well, although during the race I will still want to enjoy the beauty of this event ".

The event will start as early as 2.30 pm, with the opening of the exhibition area of the CMP Venice Running Village. The village will welcome all the athletes registered in the race for the collection of bibs and race packs where the many sponsor companies that will promote the latest news in the field of sportswear, sports shoes and nutrition, in a very large area where interpersonal distancing and full compliance with anti-Covid regulations will be guaranteed.

Along the way, however, about halfway through the race (Giardini della Biennale), a refreshment point will be set up with San Benedetto water, Pro Action supplements and Palmisano biscuits. All products delivered will be individually wrapped and the bottles of water will be delivered unopened. Numerous public fountains, located along the race course, will help athletes refresh themselves during the race. At the finish line, the athletes will receive the final refreshment bag with San Benedetto water, ProAction supplements, Palmisano biscuits, Vitamill flatbreads and Bavaria beer. The medal, which all finishers will receive at the finish line in the refreshment kit, was instead chosen by the runners themselves through a social contest. The model that has received the most preferences, about a hundred, shows a runner running across a bridge, in the presence of the Winged Lion of San Marco, symbol of the city.

The CMP Venice Night Trail is organized by Venicemarathon with the fundamental support and patronage of the Venice Municipal Administration, the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and Venice Passenger Terminal.

Sponsors of the event: The CMP sportswear brand of the F.lli Campagnolo group 'title sponsor' Pro Action 'sport nutrition partner'; San Benedetto 'official water'; Bavaria 'official beer'; Alì Supermercati, the Paduan company of large-scale distribution; Dolci Palmisano, the traditional Venetian pastry since 1926 and Radio Deejay 'official radio', Grandi Molini Italiani and Fairbnb.coop, the sustainable tourism platform that donates 50% of its commissions to local community projects.
The 5th CMP Venice Night Trail was presented

Venice is ready to fascinate the 3,000 runners who will give life to the fifth edition of the night city trail organized by Venicemarathon, scheduled for Saturday 28 August starting at 9 pm.

Venice, 24 August 2021 - The curtain officially rises on the fifth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, the fascinating and evocative night city trail organized by Venicemarathon and scheduled in Venice on Saturday 28 August, the first major mass sporting event in Venice after the lockdown.

The event was presented this morning on the social channels of the event by the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva and by the General Manager Lorenzo Cortesi. The deputy mayor of the Municipality of Venice Andrea Tomaello, the president of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea Fulvio Lino Di Blasio and the representatives of some sponsoring companies Nicolò Rossignoli (CMP), Francesco Palmisano (Dolci Palmisano) and Francesco Angelini (Great Italian Mills).

At the opening, Piero Rosa Salva immediately brought attention to the novelty of this fifth edition, that is the new departure, arrival and services headquarters of the event, which moves from the port area of San Basilio to the Marittima del Porto Venezia, and more precisely at the Cruise Terminal 123.

“Already in 2019 - says the president - we realized that the time had come to rethink the logistics of the start and finish of the race, given the constant increase in the number of participants. So this year, also considering the need to increase the interpersonal space for anti-contagion regulations, we have found hospitality in the wider maritime area, again thanks to the availability of the Port Authority and Venice Terminal Passengers ".

The "Marble Head" area and Cruise Terminal 123 will therefore be the nerve center of the event. This is a very large space that will favor interpersonal distancing and full compliance with anti-Covid regulations. Here, in addition to departure and arrival, the CMP Venice Running Village will also be built with all its services in total safety.

“We are ready and happy to organize this fifth edition together with Venicemarathon for two main reasons. On the one hand, because it represents the first sporting event of a certain scale in the city and therefore a symbol of restarting events in safety. On the other hand, because we are happy that the tender involves the Port of Venice, the economic heart and strategic point of our city and the entire metropolitan area: an important message not only for Venice but for all of Italy "- these are the words of the deputy Mayor of Venice Andrea Tomaello.

"The Venice Night Trail represents the concrete opportunity to relaunch the relationship between the Port and the City where, in this case, the port represents the place of beginning and end of the event, and the city the place that is embraced by this path. very beautiful ring, in which the athletes will bring light "- so Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, to the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea.

Rosa Salva then wanted to reiterate how the support and collaboration of the many realities that support the organization is always fundamental, from the Municipal Administration of Venice, to the Prefecture of Venice, the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and from Venice Terminal. Passengers, State Police, Border Police, Customs Office, Local Police, Guardia di Finanza, Civil Protection, the Green Cross, sponsors and over 200 volunteers located along the route, who will also monitor pedestrian traffic.

The general manager Lorenzo Cortesi explained in detail how the new location of the pre and post-race services at Cruise Terminal 123 will greatly facilitate the participants: "The area is equipped with numerous parking lots that will allow runners to be able to leave their vehicles right behind of the start and finish line, in the completely free and supervised car parks, thus avoiding the use of means of transport and I underline the fact that not everyone can experience the emotion of departure and arrival inside the Port of Venice . The path, magical and unique of its kind, will always be 16 kilometers long but with a few less bridges. The race will pass in the most typical places of the city and in Piazza San Marco. There will be 3,000 members and we are really happy with the significant participation of foreign runners".

The CMP Venice Night Trail is in fact a rather technical and challenging, but very fascinating and spectacular city trail, which will make you live the suggestive experience of running at night in a unique city in the world, wrapped in silence and accompanied by the sweet melody of water. This year, moreover, they will experience the particular anniversary of the celebrations for the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of Venice.

Together with the organizers we made the race pack and we can't wait to applaud the athletes after a long time ".

The t-shirt will be a very high quality article for the dry function technology and the use of highly breathable fabrics, with shades of red, black and gray, and will report the historic date of April 4, 2020. A detail that over time it will acquire great value and make it truly a unique piece because, as happened for the Tokyo Olympic Games, it will symbolize the global interruption of sport in 2020 and its restart in 2021. The shirt also features a double print : the skyline of Venice on the chest and the map of the city, complete with a route, drawn on the back. On both sides, the #runthebridges hashtag will refresh your InnoDB on the peculiarity of this city trail: the 51 bridges.

In connection there was also Francesco Palmisano of Dolci Palmisano, the traditional patisserie and historical sponsor of the Venicemarathon events: "Our company produces typical Venetian products and since sport is a pleasure for us, we want to sweeten the events in which we participate with our products".

Another company in the area that intervened today is La Grandi Molini Italiani, which instead uses salty. “We are happy to be present at this great event which represents an important moment of restart and our participation is for us a way to give something back to the territory. We will participate both in the refreshment and in the race package with our schiacciatine ”- these are the words of Francesco Angelini.

Also for Alì Supermercati, the CMP Venice Night Trail represents an important moment of restart: "We all feel the need to restart and this event will make us run all together, amateurs and professionals, all united by the desire to be outdoors, while respecting the safety distances. This year we immediately accepted the possibility of supporting this event as well because we believe that sport is one of the healthiest moments of sharing and aggregation. " - these are the words of Matteo Canella Head of General Affairs of Alì S.p.A. The Alì hostesses and the inevitable orange mascot in the shape of an accent will distribute gadgets and Alì branded will also be the race packages for all participants.

The organizers also thanked all the other sponsors and partners involved: Pro Action 'sport nutrition partner'; San Benedetto 'official water'; Bavaria 'official beer'; Radio Deejay 'official radio' and Fairbnb.coop, the sustainable tourism platform that donates 50% of its commissions to local community projects.

The shirt also features a double print : the skyline of Venice on the chest and the map of the city, complete with a route, drawn on the back. On both sides, the hashtag #runthebridges will refresh your InnoDB on the peculiarity of this city trail: the 51 bridges.

The medal, which all finishers will receive at the finish line, was instead chosen by the runners themselves through a social contest, which ended on 23 July. The model that has received the most preferences, about a hundred, shows a runner running across a bridge, in the presence of the Winged Lion of San Marco, symbol of the city.

In the meantime, registrations continue and only the last 500 bibs are available and the athletes will soon receive, via email, all the useful information and the detailed route.

There are many companies that will run alongside the city trail: CMP, Pro Action, San Benedetto, Alì Supermercati, Bavaria, Dolci Palmisano, Grandi Molini Italiani and Radio Deejay. The CMP Venice Night Trail is also part of the #EnjoyRespectVenezia project and, as always, the collaboration of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and the Venice Passenger Terminal will be precious.

Venice, April 27, 2021 - The CMP Venice Night Trail moves to Saturday August 28 in order not to lose its authenticity, that is the magic of making athletes run at night in Venice by "torchlight".
The new Prime Ministerial Decree of 22 April, while giving important signs of opening also for the resumption of sports activities, has maintained some restrictions including the "curfew" at 10 pm until 31 July. This provision forced the organizers to postpone the event, initially scheduled for Saturday 5 June, for more than two months.
"Continuing with enthusiasm in the organizational commitment, it is clear that, to date, unfortunately there is no certainty of being able to make athletes experience the magic of Venice at night - explains the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva - The hypothesis of anticipating the he timetable of the race in the afternoon would completely distort the very content of the event and, moreover, it would be impracticable to run around Venice, among the numerous people on Saturday afternoon ”.
“We have therefore decided to move the race to the evening of Saturday 28 August - continues Rosa Salva - to maintain our tradition and make athletes live a unique experience, between streets and squares illuminated by torches. We came to this decision with regret but with the awareness that safety, organizational quality and the charm of the event are values to be preserved at all costs ".
Registrations already confirmed will automatically be valid for August 28th. Athletes who are unable or unwilling to participate on that date will have the opportunity to postpone registration to 2022 simply by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
