The winner Nicolò Petrin (25 years old) lives in Santa Maria di Sala (Venice) and alternates between trail and road races. In 2018 he finished fourth at the Italian TrailChampionships . #EnjoyRespectVenezia - Tomorrow the 4th CMP Venice Night Trail will starts in respect of the city and its environment

Tomorrow evening, on Saturday 13 April, at 9.00 pm the fourth city trail organized by Venicemarathon will start from San Basilio; for the second year by CMP will be the title sponsor; 3,500 athletes will be at the start.
Venice, 12 April 2019 – People who come across the CMP Venice Night Trail competitors for the first time tomorrow, will see many small bright fireflies that will leave at 21.00 from San Basilio (Sestiere Dorsoduro) and will be lost in the darkness of Venetian calli, through the most typical areas of the city in a show of great suggestion both for the participants and for the public.
The event, like all the events organized by Venicemarathon, adheres to the #EnjoyRespectVenezia project and all participants were invited, from the registration stages, to adopt responsible and respectful behavior towards the city, its inhabitants and environment. On the other hand, the trail provides an approach to the race that is less geared to chronometric performance but more sensitive to the landscape context in which it takes place.
The route will be manned by over 300 volunteers equipped with LED palettes, fluorescent vests, bright balloons and whistles but will not be closed to pedestrian traffic. The volunteers will indicate the route and will ensure that the athletes respect the city, the many tourists in the city and the residents who want to enjoy the Saturday night party.
Care and respect for the environment will be obligatory in the refreshment areas and in the areas of greatest assemblage of the athletes. There are no "flying" refreshments along the route and all athletes will be invited to use the fountains they will encounter along the way. To ensure proper hydration, the organizers will set up a single refreshment point shortly after the middle of the race, at the Sant’Elena Gardens, and the final one at San Basilio. Here the athletes can quench their thirst with San Benedetto water, ProAction products, Bavaria Premium beer, Zuegg fruit juices, and refresh themselves with fruit, a mix of delicacies from the Palmisano ovens and Bertoncello snacks. The two refreshment points will be manned and managed by many volunteers who will return the areas as they found them, also thanks to the collaboration of Veritas.
The CMP Venice Running Village will open its doors to the public, tomorrow Saturday 13 April, at 3 pm with the official inauguration and presentation of some of the protagonists of the race, with completely free access.
The race course
After the start from San Basilio the route will pass along the port area to then enter Piazzale Roma through the bridge located under the People Mover. From here the route will continue towards the first passage on the Grand Canal through the Calatrava bridge and will penetrate the most typical areas going as far as Sant’Elena and the Biennale, and then back up to Piazza San Marco. The race will continue towards the Teatro La Fenice and then cross the Grand Canal on the Accademia bridge and go as far as Punta della Dogana. Then you will go along the Fondamenta delle Zattere along the Giudecca Canal, up to San Basilio where the arrival is fixed.
